About This Range

Fire Retardant for Natural Fabrics and Materials

Clear, odourless fire protection for cotton, linen, wool, paper, cardboard, straw and other natural absorbent materials.

Flametect C is a clear, water-based fire retardant treatment for natural absorbent materials. Its high-solids formula treats more material with less product, and it dries with no sheen or colour change, so natural materials keep their original appearance.

It can be applied by spray, brush, roller or immersion, and every order includes a free UKAS-traceable Statement of Performance certificate.

Suitable Materials and Applications

  • Cotton, silk, linen, wool and other natural fabrics
  • Curtains and drapes, including theatre stage and wing curtains
  • Paper, cardboard, papier mache and art projects
  • Hessian and jute
  • Hay and straw internal scenery and seating
  • Dried natural flowers and foliage
  • Tapestries and wall hangings

Before You Treat

Flametect C is for natural, absorbent materials only. It is not suitable for synthetic fabrics, so use Flametect Nitro where synthetic fibres need treating. Materials must be clean and fully dry before treatment.

It is for interior use. Reapply after washing, heavy cleaning or any exposure to moisture. It can be corrosive to metal fixings, so avoid prolonged contact with untreated metal hardware.

Certifications & Performance

Tested to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B, the UK standard for curtains and drapes, by the UKAS-accredited BTTG laboratory. On suitable wallcoverings and wallpaper, it can achieve EN 13501-1 Class B-s1,d0. This applies to wallcoverings only, and testing is recommended to confirm compliance.
