Application Guide
Overview
Flame retardant application is easy, safe and mess free. 99% of customers apply the flame retardant themselves.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Wear suitable lightweight protective clothing, rubber/plastic gloves, mask and goggles
- Ensure good ventilation when working indoors
- Keep products away from children and pets
- Review the Material Safety Data Sheet before use
- Protect live plants, grasses and flowers from overspray or hose off with water after application
Equipment & Preparation
- Test a small sample area for 24 hours before full treatment
- Shake container well before use and do not dilute
- Ensure materials are clean and dust-free
- Use trigger sprays or garden pressure sprayers
Application Methods
Flametect C & Flametect Nitro (Textiles, Paper & Card)
Method:
- Hold nozzle approximately 20 cm (8") away from the surface
- Spray evenly and overlap
- Thoroughly dampen the material - do not saturate
Coverage:
- 10-15 square metres per litre for textiles
- 20-30+ square metres per litre for paper
Tips:
- Apply two light coats 10 minutes apart for dark/lightweight fabrics
- Reapply after 5 years or following water-based cleaning
Flametect C-WD+ (Wood & Wood Products)
Method:
- Apply via spray, brush, or roller
- Ensure wood moisture content is 20% or lower
Coverage:
- Target absorption: 4 square metres per litre
- Allow approximately 1 hour between multiple coats
Drying:
- Protect external applications or allow 24-48 hour drying period
