Q: Which product do I need?
For wood and timber: Flametect C-WD+. For textiles (synthetic or natural): Flametect Nitro. For natural materials only (cotton, linen, wool, paper): Flametect C. For structural steel and concrete: intumescent paints. Not sure? Call us and we'll advise.

Q: Are your flame retardants environmentally friendly?
Yes. Flametect C and Flametect Nitro are water-based, contain zero VOCs, no halogens, and no formaldehyde. They are classified as non-hazardous. See our about page for more on our environmental commitment.

Q: Do you have quality assurance systems?
Yes. All products are manufactured in an ISO 9001 environment. Performance is verified by independent UKAS and UL laboratories in the UK, USA, and Germany.

Q: Will you test materials with your fireproof sprays?
We evaluate materials for treatment suitability free of charge. Send us a sample or description and we'll advise on the best product. Final certification tests should be performed by a UKAS facility.

Q: Can I apply fire retardant myself?
Yes. 99% of our customers apply Flametect products themselves using basic equipment. See our application guide for step-by-step instructions.


Wood & Timber

Q: Can building materials like wood, MDF, and chipboard meet UK flammability standards?
Generally yes. Most materials that absorb water-based flame retardants can achieve BS 476 standards. Flametect C-WD+ is tested to BS 476 Class 0 and Euroclass B.

Q: Can internal beams and wooden structures be flame retarded?
Yes. Flametect C is widely used for interior wooden structures including wood in direct contact with flame, such as inglenook fireplace beams.

Q: Can wooden outbuildings and sheds meet BS 476 standards?
Yes. Treat with Flametect C-WD+, then protect with a water-based varnish or paint if desired. Alternatively, use intumescent paints for a combined fire-resistant finish.

Q: Can fireproof spray stop vandals from igniting property?
To a significant extent, yes. Our sprays prevent total combustion of treated surfaces, buying critical time and reducing damage from arson attempts.


Textiles & Fabrics

Q: Will fireproof sprays prevent curtains and carpeting from catching fire?
In most cases yes. Use Flametect C for natural materials or Flametect Nitro for synthetics and blends. Nitro works on all fibre types to achieve BS 5867 Part 2 Type B standards.

Q: Can hotel textiles be treated to be fire resistant?
Definitely yes. We are the sole supplier of fire retardant treatment to a major international hotel group. Flametect Nitro products are skin-friendly and suitable for all guest-contact textiles.

Q: Can stage curtains and props be made flame retardant?
Definitely yes. We supply British theatres and opera companies, including The National Theatre. Flametect Nitro treats both synthetic and natural stage materials.

Q: Can store displays be made flame retardant?
Yes. We supply design departments and retail environments to meet BS 476 or BS 5867 standards. Contact us for advice on your specific materials.

Q: Can we flame retard garments?
Yes, with reservations. Flametect Nitro and Nitro D are skin-friendly but only water resistant, not waterproof. Retreat garments after each wash.

Q: Can antique textiles be treated with fireproof sprays?
In many cases yes. Always test a small, inconspicuous area first. Flametect Nitro will not react with metallic yarns found in antique and heritage textiles.

Q: Are flame retardants gentle enough for nurseries and residential homes?
Yes. Flametect Nitro and Nitro D are extremely effective and skin-friendly, making them suitable for soft furnishings in care homes, nurseries, and children's bedrooms.

Q: Will zips and fasteners be affected by flame retardant?
Flametect C can corrode metallic components. Where zips, buttons, or metallic fasteners are present, use Flametect Nitro or Nitro D instead.

Q: Can artificial foliage and flowers be flame retarded?
Yes. Flametect Nitro works on both synthetic and natural fibre foliage and decorations.

Q: Can fireproof sprays flame proof paper?
Definitely yes. Flametect C is widely used on paper for art projects, table decorations, menus, and event props.

Q: Can textiles in hostels and high-risk accommodation be protected?
Yes. Even low-cost textiles can be made flame retardant to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B standards using Flametect Nitro.


Specialist Applications

Q: Can tents and marquees be flame retarded?
In most cases yes. Flametect Nitro D is water-resistant and can be applied to the interior surfaces of marquee and tent materials.

Q: Can nightclub ceiling decorations be made flame retardant?
In most cases yes. Flametect C and Nitro treat wall and ceiling coverings including hessian, lycra, and parachute material.

Q: Will Flametect Sprays bring my aircraft textiles up to CAA specifications?
In most cases yes. Flametect Nitro is preferred for aircraft as it is non-corrosive to metals and other aircraft components. Contact us for specialised products for aviation applications.

Q: Can you provide flame retardant sprays for boats and ships?
Yes. Use Flametect Nitro on internal fabrics and Nitro D for wet-weather textiles. We also supply intumescent paints for wood, GRP, and steel structures. For marine and super yacht applications, we operate worldwide using Flametect NX2 technology.

Q: Can you supply fireproof paints for steel structures?
Yes. We supply intumescent paints from leading manufacturers including HENSOTHERM and IRIS, with typical delivery in 5 working days. Full certification to BS 476 available.

Q: What about military and medical applications?
Contact us by telephone for specialist products. Some flame retardant formulations can include natural silver anti-microbials for medical environments.

Q: If I order today, how quickly will I receive goods?
If ordered before 2:00PM, goods are normally dispatched same day for next working day delivery. See our delivery page for full shipping options and international delivery information.

Q: Can products be supplied outside the UK?
Yes. We ship internationally using FedEx, DHL, and TNT. We have completed projects in Mexico, China, Kuwait, USA, Spain, and across the Middle East. Email us for an international shipping quote.
