Fire Retardant Treatments for Hotels and Hospitality

Treat curtains, drapes, upholstery, soft furnishings and timber features in hotels, bars, restaurants and venues. Clear, water-based and made in the UK.

Hotels, pubs, restaurants and venues are full of fabrics and timber that can catch and spread fire: curtains and drapes, upholstered seating, wall hangings, decorative displays and timber cladding. Treating them with a fire retardant slows ignition and reduces flame spread, helping protect guests and staff.

For most interiors, Flametect Nitro treats natural, synthetic and blended fabrics and dries clear, with no change to the look, feel or drape of the fabric. Flametect C suits natural materials such as cotton, linen, wool and dried floral displays, and Flametect CWD+ treats interior and exterior wood, including cladding and decking.

Where It Is Used

  • Bedroom and function room curtains and drapes
  • Upholstered seating, headboards and soft furnishings
  • Wall hangings, tapestries and decorative fabrics
  • Reception and restaurant displays, including dried flowers
  • Timber cladding and decking
  • Event and wedding drapes, backdrops and table linen

Keeping Records for Your Fire Risk Assessment

In England and Wales, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires the responsible person for a hotel or venue to carry out a fire risk assessment. Treated furnishings form part of that picture, so keep a record of what was treated and when.

Every order includes a free Statement of Performance certificate for your treated area, and iron-on fabric labels let you mark treated textiles. Flametect Nitro lasts up to 10 dry-clean cycles, so plan re-treatment after cleaning or any wet washing.

Certifications & Performance

Flametect Nitro is tested to BS 5867 Part 2 Type B for curtains and drapes, BS 5852 Parts 0 and 1 for upholstery ignition, and BS 5438. Flametect CWD+ is tested to BS476 Class 0 and Class 1 for timber. See each product page for its full test reports.
