HENSOMASTIK K 2000

HENSOMASTIK® K 2000 Special Adhesive

HENSOMASTIK® K 2000 is a permanently flexible, high-temperature special adhesive engineered to bond fire-protection boards (with supplementary mechanical fixings), serve as an installation aid for insulation materials, and seal joints in ventilation duct construction.

Owing to its exceptional elasticity, it is uniquely suited for joining substrates with significantly different coefficients of thermal expansion—such as securing insulation between exterior sheet metal and interior cladding panels in railway carriage and vehicle manufacturing.

Key Characteristics

  • Classified A2-s1, d0 (non-combustible) according to DIN EN 13501-1 at an application rate of 400 g/m²
  • Certified to rail fire safety standard DIN EN 45545-2 (R1 HL3 compliant)
  • Permanently elastic organic formulation that will not embrittle over time
  • Temperature resistant up to +750 °C
  • Solvent-free and colourless
  • Available in both ready-to-spray and viscous paste consistencies

Classifications & Test Reports

  • DIN EN 13501-1: A2-s1, d0 (Corresponds with DIN 5510-2: S5, SR2, ST2) — Report No. FLT KE4197908
  • UNE 23721: Class M1
  • EN 45545-2:2016: Meets requirements of R1 HL3 — Exova Warringtonfire Report No. 2014-2265-1

Recommended Uses

  • Non-combustible adhesive joints
  • Joining dissimilar building materials with varying thermal expansion rates (e.g. wagon and rail construction)
  • Bonding fire-rated boards to concrete or aerated concrete (with auxiliary mechanical fixings)
  • Fixing and sealing fire-protection boards on ventilation and smoke extraction ducts
  • Assembly aid during the installation of mineral fibre and acoustic insulation

Application Guidelines

  • Preparation: Stir thoroughly before use. Substrates must be completely clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and contamination.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ambient and substrate temperature must remain above +5 °C during application and curing. Ensure substrate temperature is at least +3 °C above the dew point and strictly above 0 °C.
  • Open Time: Approx. 15 minutes at +20 °C and 65% relative humidity.
  • Unequal Densities: When bonding materials with different densities, apply adhesive to the higher-density substrate.
  • Coverage: 0.1 to 1.5 kg/m² depending on substrate porosity, texture, and application method.
  • Overhead / Vertical Mounting: Allow an airing interval of 8 to 20 minutes before mating components under pressure to achieve immediate grab.
  • Tool Cleaning: Clean tools and spraying equipment immediately with water if work is paused for more than 20 minutes, or circulate HENSOMASTIK® K 2000 within the closed pump circuit.
