This product is a protective topcoat for CHAR 17 Base Coat. It does not achieve a certified fire rating on its own and must be used in conjunction with the base coat, which is purchased separately.
CHAR 17 Protective Topcoat
This protective topcoat is designed specifically for use over CHAR 17 Base Coat, a high-performance, waterborne intumescent system engineered to provide fast-acting fire protection for timber substrates. The transparent formulation ensures the natural grain, texture, and decorative appearance of the timber are fully preserved.
When applied as part of the complete system, it achieves a Euroclass B-s1, d0 reaction-to-fire classification—making it ideal for architectural and decorative timber projects where aesthetic standards and building regulations must both be met.

Application & Coverage
- Application Method: Apply using a fine or short-pile roller, brush, or suitable spray unit.
- Coverage Rate: Apply at 50 ml/m² (approx. 20 m² per litre).
- Timing: To protect the system against moisture and ambient humidity, apply this topcoat on the same day the base coat is sufficiently dry. Delaying application may compromise the final finish.
