What is this product?
HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNEN is a base coat and requires a top coat of HENSOTOP 84 AF (available separately). The top coat must be applied after the base coat has dried through, to protect against moisture.
Transparent fire protection coating for interior wood
HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNEN is an intumescent coating for the fire protection of interior wooden structures. It is used like a normal paint with a brush, roller or sprayer. It has a milky consistency as it is being applied, but becomes completely clear and transparent when dry, so that the surface structure of the wood remains visible.
Fire behaviour is classified B-s1, d0 according to DIN EN 13501 (SBI test).

How to Apply
Simple application with standard tools โ no specialist equipment required.

1Prepare the surface for HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNENThe surface must be free from dust, dirt, grease, wax, mould, oil, glues and whitewash. Remove existing coatings completely to the sound substrate.

2Check conditions for HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNENTemperature above +10ยฐC and relative humidity below 80% during application and drying. The dew point must not be exceeded. Moisture content of the wood must be 15% or less.

3Prepare a sample area for HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNENFor all types of wood and wooden materials a suitable sample area is required before application.

4Prime before HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNENPriming with HOLZGRUND AQ improves adhesion and the appearance of wooden surfaces. Use HOLZGRUND SB on highly absorbent wooden surfaces, or to improve adhesion on smooth surfaces.

5Stir HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNENStir thoroughly before application. Do not thin.

6Apply HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNENApply by brush or roller (a short pile lambswool roller is recommended), or by airless spray at 200 to 250 bar with a 0.013 to 0.015 inch nozzle and a flow rate above 4 l/min. The required 350 g/mยฒ (approx. 245 ฮผm wet) can be applied in a single coating operation. Clean equipment with warm water.

7Allow HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNEN to dryAt approx. +20ยฐC and approx. 65% relative humidity, drying takes approx. 12 to 24 hours per layer. The coating becomes transparent after drying through.

8Top coat HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNEN with HENSOTOP 84 AFOnce HENSOTHERM 1 KS INNEN is fully dried (transparent, clear), the HENSOTOP 84 AF top coat must be applied. The coating system is sensitive to pressure in the first weeks.
